Drawing for Bible memory is a technique I developed to draw simple pictures that cue a word or group of words so you can memorize scripture by having an experience with the verse through art.
My video of drawing Psalm 100:3 is below! If you missed Psalm 100:1-2, check that out here: Draw Psalm 100:1-2 for memory! Draw Psalm 100:1-2 for memory!
Verse three comes after two verses about joy and gladness in the Lord. Our relationship with God evokes an emotional response!
Now we see the words, “Know that the Lord is God.” We need to move into our heads and look critically at the evidence presented in the Bible and here on earth through creation.
The logical conclusion is that the Lord IS God, and we can trust this fact, despite what secular “experts” who don’t have a Biblical framework might suggest.
“It is he who made us, and we are his,” reinforces that we are the work of his hands, his craftsmanship, so he is in charge, and we belong to him (Genesis 1:26-28).
Not only do we belong to him individually, but as a “people,” verse three continues. As a group, we are the sheep of his pasture.
This analogy is rich with symbolism, but we know that sheep depend on their shepherd, know his voice as he cares for them. He will go and find one lost sheep and rescue him.
From the internet: Sheep are prey animals and are largely defenseless against predators, naturally nervous, and easily frightened. They flock together for safety.
We need our defender from the predation of the enemy! Ephesians 6:10-17 teaches us how to be fully protected with the armor he has given us. He is our only defense against evil, sin, and our sinful nature.
I know I am often nervous and easily frightened, but this is a sign that I need to trust God and strengthen my trust muscle!
The unfortunate thing about us flocking together for safety is that if it is not with brothers and sisters in Christ, centered in the person of Jesus, the mob mentality will undoubtedly take over and lead everyone right off the cliff!
I am so grateful that I have a shepherd that cares for me tenderly and wants a relationship with me! Praise the Lord!
