Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Psalm 100:4 teaches us some fascinating facts about our Lord. Right away, we see we are to enter his “gates” and “courts .”
A gate is an opening or opening with a barrier to an enclosed area, typically outside. A king’s court is his council and household, where he also makes judgments and rulings as our modern courts do.
These words seem to teach us that God is our king who is sovereign over everything; the outer areas of his realm here on earth as well as his people (council), and his domain as king of the universe in the spiritual realm, all accessed through his gate.
Unlike the enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) and causes weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12), God causes our hearts to radiate with thanksgiving, praise, and thanks!
This is the posture we enter his gate and go into his courts with, his name forever on our lips in praise!
Matthew 7:13-14
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Although this gate is narrow and few find it, we know we will enter with a joyful heart! Turning from the slavery of sin to have freedom in Christ’s love and forgiveness is beyond words! It is life, and we are here for it!
Jude 1:25
25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
God is the king of the universe and everything in it which he created. We are his adopted sons and daughters, and he offers us this gift of salvation while we are still sinners, turned against him. To accept this gift truly makes us thankful, and we want to praise his holy name forever!
