“To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
“Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
Santa Clause calls to his team to take action and, “Dash away all”!
He is commanding the reindeer to get moving because they have work to do, and it’s a busy night!
We know from the following lines that the reindeer obeyed instantly and took off flying at his orders.
Let’s look at two people who obeyed God’s orders right away!
Dash away and obey!
Noah
Noah stood out in pre-flood history as the only righteous man, blameless and walking faithfully with God. The entire earth was filled with evil and corruption except for Noah.
God shared the incredible plans to destroy all life on earth with a flood and how Noah would save a remnant of animals, along with his family, on an ark he was to construct!
Most humans would have at least a few questions and concerns! But not Noah.
Genesis 6:22
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
He must have been scoffed at, ridiculed, and made fun of incessantly for approximately 75 years as he constructed the ark. (See this article from Answers in Genesis on how this time was calculated: How Long Did It Take for Noah to Build the Ark? | Answers in Genesis )
Noah stayed the course, and his faith did not waiver. There was no evidence anything God had said would occur. Yet Noah was a man who built his life on faith, and he listened to his commander.
Abraham
This man is an excellent example for us. Even though he didn’t always get it right, he had a sensitivity and heart for God.
In Genesis 22, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son as a burnt offering on a mountain in the region of Moriah.
Early the next morning, he calmly prepares for this journey. He even takes the wood needed for the burnt offering.
He has a three-day journey to ponder the sacrifice he is required to make, yet he does not yield to fear. God stretched him to the breaking point as he binds his son, lays him on the altar, and reaches out a knife to slay his son!
Like Noah, an unbelievable request and an unbelievable situation!
How many times has God pushed you so far you thought he had abandoned you?
God rewarded his obedience, and an angel of the Lord intervenes.
Genesis 22:17-18
17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring[b] all nations on earth will be blessed,[c] because you have obeyed me”.
Because Abraham was obedient even to death, he became the father of God’s people.
This is genuinely an obedience to admire and challenge us all!
At Christmas, we celebrate our savior, who was born to be obedient and take action, all the way to the cross!
Are you a person of obedience and action? What areas of your life do you struggle to trust God? How do you work to overcome this?
Let’s take a cue from Santa’s team and when Christ calls, “Dash away,” let’s do that without hesitation and experience blessings like Noah and Abraham!
SURPRISE PRESENT
There are lots of theories on how Santa’s reindeer fly. I found two videos below explaining their theory.
How do you think reindeer fly? Do you agree with either of these videos?
I also found a card game (with link) for you to check out!
Lastly, I recommend you try a game of, “Reindeer Dash” around your house! Here’s how:
- Each “reindeer” dons a pair of antlers for authenticity.
- “Santa” hides reindeer food (candy canes, snowballs [cotton balls], chocolate kisses etc.) around the house in strategic locations.
- On “GO”, reindeer dash around the house finding their food and the first reindeer back to the “stable” wins!
- Reindeer food should always be enjoyed with a mug of hot cocoa in celebration! (Except the cotton balls!)
