And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
Santa Clause has just come down the chimney, his countenance and appearance are unique as the head elf!
These words remind me of the conversion we go through when we cross over from death to life.
John 5:24
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
At this point, we turn from sin in repentance, and Jesus, our substitute, washes us clean and white as snow with his blood.
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
Indeed, like Santa’s beard, we are washed white as snow when we seek him as our Lord and Savior! Praise God!
When we are adopted into God’s family, he is always with us. The Israelites learned this when they were in the desert:
Exodus 13:21
By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.
The cloud, or smoke, was guiding them on their way. God never left them. At night, he was a pillar of fire to give them light. We have God with us, guiding us in the Holy Spirit in the same way!
1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which is even better than a cloud or fire beside us!
John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
He is the counselor that teaches, reminds, and walks with us every single day.
When you think of Santa’s white beard and the smoke encircling his head, let it be a reminder that we too are now white as snow and have God with us every single day in the person of the Holy Spirit!

Snow videos!
Since Santa’s beard is as white as the snow, I thought I would share a couple snow videos!
If you live where there is lots of snow, this may not be a novelty to you, but here in Washington, these images are amazing!
We’ve got a fox diving into deep snow for food, an igloo mansion being built, time-lapse photography of snow piling up, and snowflake formation!
Last year, my 10 year old did a snowflake flap book and it was so fun!
There is some great educational information in these so use it as a launching pad for learning when you need a break from your regular studies!
