And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap-
Psalm 4:8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
I love this verse so much! For anyone who has struggled with anxiety or stress, (me…my kids…my extended family…my friends), you know how difficult it can be to relax and go to sleep when your mind is ruminating on things that have happened, or your heart is racing and you can’t seem to talk yourself out of the panic.
This verse reminds us that only the Lord gives us true peace and safety so we can lie down in the comfort of his arms and take a long winter’s nap.
Don’t miss the magic of Christmas because you are so stressed about all the details that you won’t even remember in a few weeks.
At Christmas, we have a unique opportunity to be emersed in sights and sounds not available at other times of the year. These things are symbols that can point us to Christ, our Savior, and Redeemer, born of a virgin over 2,000 years ago to pay the price for my sins and yours.
If Christmas is not a joyful time for you, that is your prayer assignment this season. Pray that the Lord lifts the burdens of your past and heals your heart. Pray you can see Christmas as he would have you see it, and feel Christmas as he would have you feel it.

I hope you enjoy Carrie Underwood’s version of Silent Night. Stop everything for just 3 minutes and 29 seconds of bliss and feel Christmas and the love of Christ who was born on that silent night. And may you sleep in heavenly peace this season and all year long my friend!
