Psalm 100:1-2
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Watch the video of me drawing these verses with pictures to represent a word or group of words so you and your children can commit them to memory and have fun at the same time!
Don’t these words bring a smile to your face? They are so good for reminding us of the posture we should have before our Lord and Savior, our King, who sits at the right hand of God!
Shout for joy to the Lord– Vocalizing and getting energized in our joyful zeal for the Lord is a form of worship he loves to see! He loves to see our passion and love for him come alive!
All the earth- God’s desire is that every nation comes to know his love for them and each person enters into a personal relationship with him. Right now, my 17-year-old son is on a mission trip on the other side of the world, spreading the gospel of peace to nations living in darkness so that “all the earth” can know Jesus.
Worship the Lord with gladness- Again, we see God’s desire is not for us to be somber and solemn in worship but be moved by the Holy Spirit in the delight of our Lord!
Come before him with joyful songs- Worship has long been expressed in songs, and for a good reason: the lyrics and melody can capture and express what the heart is feeling in ways that can be difficult to convey. We see the word joyful again (previously “joy”). This underscores the attitude of worship that the Lord loves!
As a dancer, music moves me. I have long preferred worship songs that get you on your feet, dancing, clapping, and smiling from ear to ear!
I hope these verses are a blessing to your heart and encouragement that our relationship with the Lord should be one of exuberance! We all can certainly use a lot more of this in our lives, that I’m sure of!
